Join us on for a casual meet-and-greet with Fogo Island Arts artists-in-residence over tea and snacks. Claudia Arozqueta, Christiane Statham, Sarah Stevenson and Alexia Trawinska will share their artistic practices and residency projects.

Christiane is a curator, project manager, cultural researcher and writer, living and working in Sydney/Warrane, on Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug Countries (New Zealand). Her work focuses on art and environment, and she is dedicated to expanding the potential of contemporary public art through collaborative projects with artists, custodians, scientists, activists, historians, academics and architects.

Sarah Stevenson is an artist working primarily in the medium of sculpture, although recent work could also be considered as Textile art. She was born in England and raised in Canada, and is now based in Montreal.

Born in 1993 in Colmar France, Alexia DeMarche Trawinski completed a Bachelor’s degree at the Ecole Supérieur d’Art de Clermont Métropole, France, and was a student of Silvia Bächli and Markus Vater at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildende Künste in Karlsruhe, Germany. She later studied with Pia Fries in Munich, graduating with the title of Meisterschülerin.

Claudia Arozqueta is an interdisciplinary historian, curator, and writer. She is the author of Heartbeat Art (MIT Press, 2025). Her writing has also appeared in catalogues, books, academic journals, and magazines, including Leonardo, Artforum, e-flux Criticism, etc. In 2014, Arozqueta founded Modelab, a nomadic artistic initiative exploring public space, ecologies, and experimental historical narratives.
